Sargassum & beach conditions
A protected natural area and the most important sea-turtle nesting beach in Mexico, designated a turtle sanctuary in 1998, between Akumal and Tulum.
Its roughly 2.6 kilometres of white sand back onto untouched jungle, with a freshwater cenote (Xcacelito) steps inland.
It stays wild and quiet with almost no facilities; access is limited hours (closed Mondays), a small conservation donation is asked, and activities are restricted during the May-to-November nesting season.
