Isla Contoy
Sargassum & beach conditions
A protected uninhabited national-park island north of Isla Mujeres, Isla Contoy is a strictly limited-access bird sanctuary open only to a capped number of visitors per day on authorised tours.
Its untouched white-sand beaches, mangroves and reef make it one of the wildest, least-developed spots in the region, home to frigatebirds, pelicans and nesting turtles.
