Sanibel Island

A barrier island off Fort Myers oriented east-west, which funnels shells onto its shores and makes Sanibel one of the world's premier shelling beaches, giving rise to the stooped “Sanibel Stoop.” Largely protected by the J.N.

Ding Darling wildlife refuge, it has a quiet, low-rise, nature-focused character.
