Laguna Kaan Luum

A large, near-circular freshwater lagoon in the jungle about 15 minutes south of Tulum, near the edge of the Sian Ka'an reserve.

A wide shallow rim of warm, waist-deep turquoise water (fed by cenotes) surrounds a deep central cenote, dropping to roughly 80 metres, whose dark blue creates Kaan Luum's signature colour contrast.

The deep centre is off-limits to swimmers; the shallows, a pier, hammocks and a viewing tower make it a calm, family-friendly spot where only biodegradable sunscreen is allowed.
