Playa Ballenas

A long, quiet beach at Km 14.5 squeezed between the big resorts, with access hidden on the south side of the Golden Parnassus, Playa Ballenas runs about 400 metres of fine white sand.

Named after the whales once sighted offshore, it has moderate to strong surf that draws surfers rather than swimmers, and sea turtles nest here between May and September.

Its uncrowded, undeveloped feel and open horizon make it a favourite for long walks and sunsets.
