What to expect
Magic Kingdom is the park most first-time visitors mean, built around Cinderella Castle, with the classic dark rides, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain and the evening fireworks over the castle.
EPCOT divides into the future-technology pavilions and the World Showcase, eleven country pavilions arranged around a lagoon with their own restaurants and drinking. It suits adults and older children better than the others.
Hollywood Studios holds the two Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge attractions, Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon, along with Toy Story Land and the Tower of Terror. It has the highest concentration of headline rides.
Animal Kingdom combines a genuine zoological collection with Pandora and the Kilimanjaro Safaris ride. It opens earliest and empties first, which makes it the best early-start park.
Park reservations and Genie+ are what govern the day. A ticket alone does not guarantee entry to a specific park on a specific date, so reserve in advance and decide on paid queue-skipping before you arrive rather than at the gate.

The execution is admired almost universally; the criticism is about cost, complexity and crowd levels.

Getting there
The resort lies southwest of Orlando off I-4, with its own road network and paid parking at each park. Rideshare is straightforward; hotel shuttles serve most of International Drive and Kissimmee.
Staying on site gives access to internal transport and early entry, which materially reduces time spent travelling during the day.
How to make the most of the day
- 1Allow one full day per park. Attempting two parks in a day rarely works outside quiet season.
- 2Skip Park Hopper unless you will really use it. It adds $80 to $115 per ticket and the transfers between parks eat much of the benefit.
- 3Reserve table service well in advance. Walk-up availability at the popular restaurants is limited.
- 4Match the park to the weather. EPCOT and Animal Kingdom are more exposed than Magic Kingdom.
- 5Build in a rest day. Four consecutive park days is more tiring than most visitors expect.
- 6Travel in the cheap weeks. Late August, September and weekdays in January are consistently the lowest-priced dates of the year.

The resort opened in 1971 with a single park and has grown into the most visited holiday destination in the world. Its size is deliberate: the land was bought quietly in the 1960s specifically to control everything around the parks, which is why the site functions almost as its own municipality. Ticket prices are adjusted once or twice a year, so confirm the figure for your exact dates.
