Placencia

A long, narrow peninsula in southern Belize, Placencia has some of the country's best mainland-accessible sand beaches along its Caribbean side, with a laid-back village at its tip known for a famously narrow pedestrian sidewalk.

It is a base for reef trips, whale-shark season and cayes offshore.
