Flamenco (Culebra)

Sargassum & beach conditions · 18.3280, -65.3170

On the small island of Culebra off eastern Puerto Rico, Flamenco Beach curves for about a mile around a reef-sheltered, horseshoe-shaped bay of calm, shallow turquoise water and fine white sand.

Regularly ranked among the world's best beaches, it is reached only by ferry or small plane, and its most distinctive feature is a pair of graffiti-painted rusting M4 tanks left on the sand after the US Navy departed in 1975.
