Cozumel
El Cielo
Sargassum & beach conditions
A shallow offshore sandbar near the southern reefs of Cozumel, reached only by boat, El Cielo (“the sky”) is famous for waist-deep, glass-clear turquoise water and the many starfish that rest on its white sand bottom, a protected species visitors must not lift from the water.
It is one of the island's signature snorkelling stops rather than a walk-in beach.
