Costa Maya
Xcalak
Sargassum & beach conditions
A remote fishing village at the far southern tip of the Quintana Roo coast, right by the Belize border, Xcalak is the quietest, least-developed stretch on the map, with sandy streets, few hotels and no big resorts.
It sits inside a national marine park and is the main jumping-off point for the pristine Banco Chinchorro atoll, drawing fly-fishing, diving and off-grid travellers.
