A tiny sandbar islet off the northwest coast near Punta Rucia, Cayo Arena (“Paradise Island”) is a boat-only day-trip surrounded by shallow, crystal-clear turquoise water and a living reef, making it one of the country's finest snorkelling spots.
The cay is barely larger than its handful of palm shelters.
